The Eastbourne will be an inner-city Eden, where elegance seems effortless and time often stands still. A heartbeat from the city, yet feeling like a million miles away, it is located in East Melbourne, a neighbourhood of distinction, steeped in history and home to a privileged few.
Perched at the top end of the Fitzroy Gardens, The Eastbourne will add to Melbourne’s rich fabric of significant architecture.
The Eastbourne’s inner-city Eden begins with gardens of intimate scale and ornamental planting that strongly connects the story to Albert Street and Fitzroy Gardens beyond. Spectacular spaces unfold into verdant gardens, blending seamlessly into the landscape, many embracing million-dollar views.
"It’s a quiet confidence really. A quiet, mature confidence."
The Eastbourne signals the reunion of the powerhouse design collaboration that created The Melburnian on St Kilda Road, arguably Melbourne’s premier residential address to date.
Together with Freemasons Victoria, Bates Smart and Mirvac Design have reunited to create The Eastbourne, an exquisite expression of elegant restraint, an architectural flagship that exudes a quiet confidence where prestige comes to the fore.
AN HISTORIC ADDRESS
For more than 150 years, Fitzroy Gardens in East Melbourne has been treasured by the local community.
The rows of trees forming a grand Union Jack design, a nod to the British monarchy and harks to Melbourne’s European influence of times gone by.
The site on which The Eastbourne will rise was formerly the Dallas Brooks Centre, built in 1969. Named after General Sir Dallas Brooks, former governor of Victoria and the longest serving Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of Victoria, in its time the Centre played host to Australian musical legends, iconic speeches and performances.
