Paint Out Picnic In The Park

On Sunday 18th March, future residents of The Eastbourne we invited to mingle with their soon to be neighbours and watch on as Victorian Artists’ Society artists and teachers painted ‘Plein Air’ at our Paint Out Picnic In The Fitzroy Gardens.

Paint Out Picnics were a common past time for young Australian Impressionists such as Arthur Streeton, Walter Withers and Frederick McCubbin in the late 1800’s, and Fitzroy Gardens provided the perfect emerald landscape for these renowned artists to practice their brushstrokes.

Residents enjoyed 'stepping back in time', whilst enjoying traditional picnic fare. They were able to watch artists and discuss works and painting techniques, they even had an opportunity to join in and try their own hand at sketching and painting.
